

William Noel Pace, Jr. was born April 11, 1934, in Macon, GA and died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 2, 2024 in Richmond, VA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Kay Pace; their children, William III, Karen Colyer, and Wendy Mercer; and cherished granddaughters, Jai (Brent) Copeland and Amber Kelliher.
Noel grew up in Atlanta, GA, attended Georgia Tech, and graduated from North Georgia College. A distinguished Army Intelligence officer, Lieutenant Colonel Pace retired after 20 years. He received many awards including Army Commendation Medals, Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts, and the prestigious Legion of Merit. He was called to the ministry during his service and graduated from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in 1980.
For 25 years Noel faithfully pastored three churches in Richmond and after retirement at 70 he remained active serving in many roles, including Deacon and choir member. He was still a Sunday School teacher at the time of his death. He had a deep love for God and his country and adhered to the laws of both. His faith was unwavering. Noel loved people and never knew a stranger. He was known for his many talents and skills, but especially for his humor.
A Memorial Service will be held at Derbyshire Baptist Church on April 13th at 1:00pm and a burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
