

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Gaye Shinall Jones, and his daughter Allison Goris, his parents Benjamin Rhys Jones and Elizabeth Ogden Jones, brother Benjamin Rhys Jones, Jr. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Hope King (Bruce) and Jenny Hundley (Paul) as well as grandchildren Matthew Touchton, Pippa Curran, Jenny Lester, William Hundley, August Hundley, Rhys King, Chloe King, Will Goris, Neal Goris and Kendra Lichniak and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife Nancy Lynn Jones of Birmingham, Alabama.
Bill truly cared about everyone he encountered and was generous to a fault. He loved all sports but especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and VCU Basketball. He was a dedicated patron of the arts, enjoyed a good cigar and had a gift for storytelling.
He had a lifelong and successful career in the life insurance industry. Ordained in 1989, Bill was a devoted and faithful deacon at several churches, most recently at St. David’s Episcopal Church as well as serving as Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. He also served as the secretary, vice president and then president of the North American Association for the Diaconate. In 2017, he received the Home Again Community Leadership award for his commitment to serving others.
