What a sad piece of news to hear of Bills death.  We were bon air villlas neighbors and when he learned we were from  Oklahoma we heard stories!  A friends daughter is married to Barry Switzerl and bill and Barry played football together.  Loved smelling those cigars and talking sports with him.   He’ll live in lots of hearts and memories. I was sadden to hear of Bill's passing. I only knew him a short period of time but in that time I came to love his sense of humor.  He also spoke very fondly of his daughters. I pray the Lord grants his family strength and compassion.

Bill was such a wonderful man!  I was lucky enough to have him as my confirmation sponsor at Saint Matthias Episcopal Church in Midlothian, Virginia.  He provided excellent advice, great wisdom, and spiritual guidance - and he and his wife Gaye were great friends to our family.  I still remember his laughter at my confirmation celebration when I asked him if he'd like a shot of my cake - my mother had made a Kentucky Pecan Cake (which had bourbon in the recipe) and then 'aged' the cake for 2 weeks after baking it by wrapping it in bourbon soaked cheesecloth...  it was good and, needless to say, rather potent!  My family moved to New Jersey back in 1990, but I have often thought of Bill - I still have, and often wear, the necklace he and Gaye gave me upon my confirmation.  My world is better for having known Bill, and Heaven is now a bit brighter because of his kind spirit, gentle soul, and warm smile.

After ordained as a deacon, Bill served many places as assigned by his bishop. For many years before, he was a loyal member of St. Matthias’ Episcopal Church, Midlothian, Virginia, and a friend. His enthusiastic good nature was highly contagious; heaven will receive an extra dose of joy with Bill there. - The Rev. Robert D. Morrison, Jr., former rector,  St. Matthias’.

Dinners and athletic events with Bill are especially memorable during my time as an employee at VCU. As a member on the staff, I took several trips where Bill and Lynn accompanied us too many places such as Austin, Texas, Massachusetts, and New York. Bill had a story for every place that we traveled and he was so kind to every person that we encountered. I always enjoyed having dinner with them and will cherish the memories of our time traveling to dinner in various states over different types of cuisine. As a gracious contributor to the Vcu athletics programs, Bill was always looking for the best for the Vcu athletes .I’m so glad to have met someone as kind as Bill in my lifetime, may he rest in peace and my condolences and prayers to his family during this time.

We were so sorry to hear the passing of Bill. He was beloved at St. David's. He was so friendly and loving. He will be deeply missed.

I was part of Bill‘s extended family in Dallas through my parents who were raised in Pine Bluff. He took efforts to get together on his trips to Dallas, and I knew him as an extremely caring individual of those who were disenfranchised for one reason or another. Deepest sympathies to his immediate and extended family. He was a wonderful person

Bill was a fine man. I appreciate the funeral services  over which he presided for both  my mother and my husband.  He also officiated at a lovely wedding for my son  and daughter-in-law. He was so kind, and so funny! Bill will be missed.

Thank you for sharing a seat at a VCU basketball game when you had an extra. I always felt part of your loving family.

My sincerest condolences to Lynn and family. I  met Bill and Lynn as a fan of VCU basketball and was honored to see his smiles and his chats with me. He seemed to enjoy my way of cheering the women’s basketball team on and I will remember his smiles looking for me in my seat. He was so gentle, generous and approachable.

God rest your soul Bill. Thank you for always making me smile when we spoke all my years at VCU. Rest In Peace and thank you for the memories my man
