

Walter M. Taylor, Jr. (Mike), 73, of Richmond, passed peacefully on April 20, 2018. A retired audio engineer at King’s Dominion, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Taylor, Sr.; his nieces, Denise and Dana Hines; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Hines and Donald Riker.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia; sister, Margaret Taylor Hines (Marty); nieces and nephews, Kim Chafin, Sharon Rhoads (Jack), Shannon Coleman, Lamar Hines, Darren Hines (Jon), Ryan Hines, and Steve Chafin; great nieces and nephews, Morgan and Michael Chafin, Sierra and Hayden Hines, Dylan Coleman, and Austin and Justin Bodtke; sisters-in-law, Louise Riker and Carol Kirchner; and brother-in-law, James May.
Mike was born in Greenboro, NC, and grew up in Charlotte, graduating from Myers Park High School and attending the University of North Carolina. He was employed by Allison-Ervin in Charlotte and by Carowinds, before relocating to Richmond in 1984, where he opened his business, Home and Auto Music Service. He was employed by King’s Dominion, designing the sound systems for the attractions until his retirement. Post-retirement, he established a business specializing in the restoration of vintage audio equipment.
The family extends their thanks and appreciation to friends who have supported them during this time and to the doctors and nursing staff at Johnston-Willis Hospital for their caring and professionalism.
