Vincent William Giordano Jr.

Vincent William Giordano Jr., 85, of Hopewell VA, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026 from stroke complications at the home of a dear friend, where Vincent resided for the last 7 months of his life.

Vincent was born in Flushing, NY on April 8, 1941 to Vincent Wm. Sr. and Allene (Maxon) Giordano.

Vincent spent his childhood and youth in Randallsville, NY where he was the ambitious younger brother to the late Samual Giordano and protective older brother to Charles (Linda) Giordano and Dr. James (Carole) Giordano. He graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Delhi College. He also served with the New York State Army National guard for about 6 years.

Vincent was married to Eloise Smith for 20 years. They raised their children, Cynthia (Joseph) DeRubertis, the late Michael P. Smith , and Vincent Wm. Giordano III along the Seneca River in Baldwinsville NY. While living there he actively coached pop warner football, was an assistant cub scout leader and sat front row for numerous school plays and talent shows as well as sidelines for Mike’s football and Cindy’s cheerleading. Dad provided numerous “boxes of items and actual items of exploration” that would mold Vincent III’s ingenuity.

Vincent later married Nancy Kowalzyk, his dearly departed devoted wife. Together they would share 32 years of fun and adventure, living their version of “the good life.” Nancy brought Laurie (Bill) Simpson and Jeff (Jennifer) Giroux into Vinny’s heart.

Big Vinny, Uncle Vinny, Mr. G, Dad, Brother was a very talented and skilled man with a heart as big as his roar. His career focussed on various aspects of home improvement: From draftsman, to insulation development, to his own business as a home construction business owner and finally, landlord. He found great pleasure in creating unique business deals with people so that they could acquire home improvement materials through his company. Mr. G had exceptional persuasion skills as he navigated his business practices.

To say he was an avid boater only scratches the surface. It was truly his passion. Vincent owned numerous boats of all shapes and sizes. He took great pride in his fleet and even more joy when he shared a boat ride with friends and family. Having a young “captain in training” on his lap assisting at the helm is one example of a fond memory that he created not only for the child, but those observing. In addition, Dad and Nancy were stand out members in a few local boating clubs including holding the position of commodore for the Jordan Point Yacht club for a few terms. He was also a certified member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendents per his mother.

Together, with his first mate,Nancy, they would entertain folks with delicious foods and beverages easily on land at their home or on their boat. They had great pleasure in providing large family dinners at holiday times.

Uncle Vince was adored by his nieces and nephews and he loved being Grandpa; entertaining all children with creative tales and animating puppets. Due to his stroke in 2018 long distance travel became impossible and greatly impacted interaction with the grandchildren that he and Nancy shared and adored: Gennaro and Mason DeRubertis, Kayla Simpson, Austin (Alayna), Bailey, Camden and Caleb Giroux, Emma and Lily Johnson, Derrick, Brandon and Austin Smith and great-grandparents to Weston Giroux.

Probably his most notable accomplishment is that he saw potential in individuals who didn’t see it in themselves. Through work opportunities, life experiences, or social engagement “Mr. G.” provided guidance to many. There has been an outstanding outpouring of expressions of gratitude from said individuals during this delicate time.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Hopewell, VA, as well at the home of his dutiful daughter, Cynthia. Notification will be through Cynthia’s and Vincent III’s Facebook pages.
