She held several positions, but none brought her greater joy than her time as a supervisor at Lewis B. Puller Vocational Center. She took immense pride in training individuals with disabilities, helping them build independence and self-sufficiency, and proudly guiding them as they worked as a team at the Williamsburg Pottery. A dedicated worker, she eventually concluded her career at the age of 82 from Rite Aid Drug Store.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Allie Anderson Brooks and Virginia A. Brooks;, her son, Cecil L. Martin; and her brothers, Thomas Milton Brooks and Eugene Ray Brooks.
Her legacy of love lives on through her surviving children, Janet Nuchols (Gary), John D. Jones, Jacqueline Combs and Jane Abbott and her sister Eunice Harris. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Sharon Scheu, Jessica Scheu and Virginia Jones for making Ruth's final days so peaceful and comfortable; she loved you all dearly.
A very special thank you also goes out to Pat Stafford, whose years of dedicated care and devoted friendship meant the world to Ruth.
