

Roy Malvin Carroll, Jr., 84, originally from Warrenton, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Malvin Carroll, Sr. and Helen Curl Carroll; and sisters, Barbara Ann Carroll and Willie G. Elam. Survivors include his wife, Grace Pool Carroll; children, Lindy Carroll Davidson (Chris) and Malvin Earl Carroll (Katherine); grandchildren, Grace, Kristina, and Nathaniel; and sister, Elizabeth “Libbie” Carroll Morris.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army including two tours to Vietnam. He was part of the Military Police and served for 24 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his retirement from the US Army, he worked security for Virginia Power and also as a bagger at Ukrop’s grocery store. Roy enjoyed going camping, fishing, hunting, square dancing, spending time with his family, and sharing stories with anyone who would listen. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Good Sam’s Camping Club.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Friday, November 22, 2024 with Reverend Noah Carroll presiding at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3801 Beulah Road, Richmond, VA. Inurment will take place at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
