Robert Daniel Parker

Robert (Bobby, Bob) Daniel Parker passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 11, 2026. He was born in Richmond, Virginia, on October 28, 1947, to Della and Bill Parker. He wrote his own obituary.

After more than 60 years of hitting golf balls out of bounds, Robert finally picked up and placed the ball in his pocket after making the dreaded “snowman” and walked off the course on his final hole on August 11, 2026. He was disappointed that he didn’t get the chance to three-putt one more time.

He wasn’t known as a great player—especially when it came to putting—but he did his best (well, kinda) to stay in the game and annoy those who joined him in his follies and moments of glory. He learned that trait from Mike. And, every now and then, there were moments of true glory, including a hole-in-one.

Remembering his wonderful, saintly wife, Marie, he would tell anyone who would listen that their marriage on March 7, 1970, in Virginia Beach, was the “darkest day of my life.” He would then explain that it was also the day of the last full solar eclipse of the 20th century visible on the East Coast. Marie, I love you, and you will always have my love. You can have my golf clubs, too.

In addition to his most-loved saint, Marie, left on the links of life are his son, Jason Parker (Karen); daughter, Nicole Fore (Jason Sell); grandchildren Tara Broom (Justin), Parker Fore, and Michael Fore; and four great-grandchildren. Also left behind are his sisters-in-law, Vickie Barnes and Pam Dutile, and nieces Heather Forrest and Emily Yetzer-Jones.

He also leaves behind his brother, Bill Parker (Martha); nephew Guy Parker; and nieces Kelly Wilson and Carrie Morgan, all from Jacksonville, Florida; and a bunch of close, longtime friends who will never see the money he often lost to them on the golf course.

Bobby graduated from George Wythe High School and VCU and served in the Army National Guard.

Bobby was preceded in death by his folks, Della and Bill Parker, as well as many of his in-laws and close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 9000 St. Martin’s Lane.

Burial will be private.
