Milton Stuart Bolton

BOLTON, Milton Stuart (Bo), of Henrico, VA, passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 98. Born July 14, 1928, in Staunton, Virginia, Bo was the son of Virginia Stuart Bolton and James Morgan Bolton. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Barbara Saal Bolton and his son Blair Wayne Bolton (UVA Class ’80) and Susan Cross Bolton, (daughter-in-law), brother James Royden Bolton; sister Claudine Catherine Bolton Watkins and James David Bolton.

He leaves his children, M. Stuart Bolton, Jr. (UVA Class ’75) (Linda), daughter Terry Bolton Scott (Iain), J. Randal Bolton, RN, (Debbie). Bo leaves seven grandchildren, Jonathan Morgan Bolton (Courtney); Brandon Stuart Bolton (Sarah); Addison Taylor Bolton; Rawls Austin Bolton (Julie); Aimee Bolton Sergent (Mark); Amanda Bolton Scheffer; and Brittany Logan Bolton-Scott, and seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Harper, Quinn, Tyler, Owen, Hunter and Dashel.

He enlisted in the United States Army Signal Corp and trained at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was transferred to Japan in the Army of Occupation and was stationed in Yokohama and Tokyo. Upon his return from overseas, he enrolled in The University of Virginia in 1948.

While at UVA, he joined ROTC in his junior year. Upon graduation he married Barbara and was then commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corp. stationed in Seattle Washington and Germany. Upon his return from overseas, he worked for Musselman and Driesdale, an accounting firm, in Charlottesville. In 1954, he was employed with Allied Chemical Corp, (now Honeywell) and remained with them until 1970. He was hired by Central Fidelity Bank, which was acquired by Wachovia Bank, which was acquired by Wells Fardo Bank. He retired in 1989 as Senior Vice President.

Bo was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity and a charter member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Petersburg, VA. Charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, VA. A member of The Lawn Society, The Cornerstone Society, The Rotunda Society, The Colonnade Club and The Jefferson Society, all at The University of Virginia. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all University of Virginia sports. He was a long-time member of the Wachsmann’s Hunt Club and Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association. He was member of The American Legion Post 284 and the 40&8 of Colonial Heights. He was a member of River Road Presbyterian Church, having served as its Treasurer for twenty years.

He has now rejoined the love of his life, Barbara. Bo touched the lives of many, many people for the better, and he will be forever missed. “Golly Ned”!

A service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 AM at River Road Presbyterian Church, 8960 River Road, Richmond, VA. The family will have a private interment at a later date.
