Lynne Jackman Guise, 75, of Richmond, Virginia, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 21, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister, nurse, and friend. Her accessorizing, laughter, and unconditional love will be deeply missed.
Lynne was born and raised in Fairfax County, VA. She spent her early adulthood in Fairfax County, VA and Federal Way, WA, before settling in Midlothian, VA, where she and her husband raised their three children. Lynne graduated from nursing school in Petersburg, VA, where she met her lifelong companion and husband, Ben. Lynne worked as a nurse in numerous capacities throughout her career, retiring in her final role as a nutritional support specialist for the Medical College of Virginia. She was the oldest of three sisters whom she adored and who were intertwined and present throughout her life. Her youngest sister, Eileen Cerny, dedicated her time, energy, love, and patience to Lynne, and was with her until her last breath.
Lynne is survived by her three children, Matthew Thomas Guise (Katherine) of Richmond, VA, Megan Elizabeth Guise of Richmond, VA, and Elizabeth Mae Guise (Nicole) of Lynnwood, WA; as well as her two younger sisters, Kathleen Anne Holbrook of Bristol, VA, and Eileen Jackman Cerny (Mark) of Midlothian, VA. She is also Grammy to four grandchildren, Peyton, Davis, Matthew, and Katie. She was a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews, Andy (Rauna) of Hershey, PA, Thomas of Sedalia, CO, Charlie (Amanda) of Bristol, VA, Jamie (Steph) of Kingsport, TN, Zack (Ashley) of Midlothian, VA, and Justin (Mary) of Bon Air, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Benjamin Daniel Guise; and her parents, Bettiann Krisay Jackman and Thomas Eugene Jackman.
Lynne was a strong, resilient, driven, loving, and well-accessorized woman. Every occasion had an outfit with coordinated shoes completed with earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, scarves, hats, and sunglasses. She always arrived in style, in her way, and without apology. Lynne loved decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas, and hosting her family. Despite her love for Christmas, Lynne preferred warm weather, sunshine, and the beach. Every summer and spring break was spent at the beach with her family.
She was fierce, opinionated, independent, did things her way, and instilled the belief that absolutely anything in life was possible. She loved fully and unconditionally and always made those around her feel special and nurtured. She loved the beach, her family, butter, accessories, pizza, Christmas, shopping, yard sales, the movies, and being a nurse. Although illness overtook the last decade of her life, she always managed to smile and remind her family and friends of how much she loved and appreciated them.
