

Lillian Traver departed this life on August 11, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Angioletta Fiora of Clarksburg, WV, where she was born. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in WV with honors and Strayer Business College in D.C. She also attended Hunter College in New York, New York University, and City College in New York. She lived in New York City and San Bernardino, CA before returning to Virginia where she spent most of her life.
She began her professional career in Washington, D.C. with the Brookings Institution, working for C.J. Moore, retired Admiral, and retired Army General Phillips in the International Studies Group. She also worked for the Vice President of Engineering of the Air Transport Association, General Arnold; the Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee of the US Congress, Grover Ensley; and was Administrative Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks, Grover Ensley, in New York City. In California she worked in a classified position for the Aerospace Corporation. Upon returning to Virginia she worked for the Department of the Interior in D.C. and Virginia. She retired in 1999 from a management and budget position at the US Geological Survey of the Department of the Interior in Reston, VA for which she supervised units in Reston, Denver and Menlo Park, CA.
She had a zest for living and had many interests, including extensive worldwide travel, taking cruises, reading, was a lover of the arts (especially theatre), sail-boating, dancing, and socializing with her many friends. She always felt she lived a complete life.
She was married to the late Victor E. Traver and is survived by their two beloved daughters, Dawn Traver of Richmond, VA and Michelle Traver of Sterling, VA, as well as one granddaughter, Alyson Haynes-Traver of Williamsburg, VA. She was proud to have lived to see the professional success of her children.
She was predeceased by her 8 sisters and 6 brothers and survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
There will not be a funeral. She will be interred privately at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD.
