June F Sears

June Sears passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in her apartment at Covenant Woods. She spent over eight years at Covenant Woods making friends with both the staff and her fellow residents. She was fondly remembered as someone that would help when she could. She was always prepared with a kind word or gesture and was renowned for her ever-full basket of candy that sat outside her door on a shelf for all to enjoy. She was a weekly bridge player and enjoyed sharing a good laugh.

June was born in 1934 and grew up in a large family in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl B. Stitson and her father Harry F. Nordstrom. Sr. as well as her eight brothers and sisters: Harry Jr., Warren, Wayne, Richard “Dickie”, Lynn, Bernadine “Bunny”, Donna and Sandy. She was a widow of Col. Thomas B. Sears who died in June of 2018. She met her husband at Filene’s Department store in Worcester where she sold hosiery and he was an aspiring buyer. They fell in love and had three children Karen Carnes of Tampa, Florida, Glenn Sears of Tucson, Arizona and David Sears of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Her military life spanned from Tokyo, Japan to many locations around the U.S. including, Kansas, Texas, Virginia and Colorado. She is also survived by several grandchildren including Colin Oliver of Tampa Florida, Melanie St. Amant of Franklin, Tennessee and Sydney Wells of Mechanicsville, Virginia and many other relatives too numerous to name them all.

June was a passionate Christian and was a member and Elder of Bedford Presbyterian Church in Bedford, New Hampshire where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was always a protector and advocate for all children as they always occupied a cherished spot in her heart. While in Virginia, she attended Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. Near the end of her earthly life, she was supported by Covenant Woods and James River Hospice who provided medical, spiritual and emotional support.

June will be missed by all that knew her. May Jesus receive her and all who read this as He is the way, the truth, and the life as indicated in John 14:6.
