Johnny Lawrence Bryant

Reverend Johnny (John) Lawrence Bryant (80) went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born on August 13, 1944 in Lexington, VA to Lawrence Albert Bryant and loving mother Mildred Catherine Bryant. He was a caring big brother to Gary Wayne Bryant (deceased) and sister, Sallie Ann Bryant Holsinger.

John was a faithful servant of God, having served as a Baptist Minister for 38 years. He was a caring pastor, counselor, and teacher. John loved good food and a little bit of adventure, but most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Charlotte Watson Bryant, daughter Jennifer Ann Bryant Hicks (Virgil S. Hicks, III), daughter Amanda Bryant Whatley (Mark Edwards Whatley), and his most precious grandsons, Andrew Bryant Whatley, Watson Bryant Hicks, and Matthew Edwards Whatley.

A private family celebration of life will occur at a later time. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation in his memory to Mechanicsville Baptist Church (8016 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111), where John served for 23 years, or to Feed More (8020 Villa Park Drive Richmond, VA 23228).
