

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Kay Goode.
Born in Richmond, VA on June 18, 1943, Howard had a lively childhood in Richmond and graduated from Manchester High School.
Howard attended Virginia Tech, graduated from VCU with a degree in Accounting and later obtained his CPA. After college, he served in the Army Reserves. Howard started his career at a Big 8 accounting firm and then went into banking. His love of helping others led him to start his own tax practice, where he focused on small businesses serving the greater Chesterfield County area.
Howard was a loving and dedicated father to his two daughters, Cynthia Goode and Stephanie Kelly. During his 25 years in Surreywood, he helped start the Pocoshock Valley Youth Soccer League, where his daughters and many other neighborhood children created loving and lasting memories. He was an avid coach, administrator, and everyone’s favorite referee.
On May 25, 1997, Howard married Kathryn Julia Moore in Surry, VA. Kay’s son Eric Murdoch, daughter-in-law, Mary Cloud Newman, and granddaughter, Maggie Murdoch were loved deeply by Howard.
Howard eventually sold his tax practice and continued to consult throughout his retirement years. His love of sports continued throughout his life. He could be seen on the courts playing tennis and pickleball or taking long slow laps at the local YMCA
Howard’s favorite pastime during retirement was spending time with his grandchildren Caroline and Brendan Kelly and step-granddaughter Maggie Murdoch.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Goode, his daughter Cynthia Goode and husband Todd McMillen, his daughter Stephanie Kelly and her two children Caroline and Brendan, his step-son Eric Murdoch, his step-daughter Mary Cloud Newman, his step-granddaughter Maggie Murdoch, his brother Stanley Goode and wife Jean, his sister-in-law Janet Goode, his sister-in-law Pam Correll, his sister-in-law Nancy Cummins and husband Jim, his brother-in-law Nick Moore and wife Pat, his aunt Betty Lou Huffman Morris, his cousin Jack Goode and wife Kay and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.
Howard is preceded in death by his father, Carrington Pollard Goode, Sr., his mother Evelyn Huffman Goode and his brother Carrington Pollard Goode, Jr.
The family would like to thank Eric Murdoch as well as the teams at At-Home Care Hospice (Williamsburg and Richmond chapters) and Lift Assist teams for their incredible kindness and assistance during this arduous journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Carsley United Methodist Church, Waverly, VA.
A memorial service will be held later this year in Richmond, VA.
