Born and raised in Crewe, Virginia, Fran graduated from Crewe High School before moving to Richmond, Virginia, where she built her career and family life. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Stuart William “Dick” Drinkwater; her parents, Louise and Weldon Firesheets; and her brother, William “Billy” Firesheets.
Fran is survived by her children, Karen Brown (Willie) and Jeffrey Stuart Drinkwater; her brother, Jimmy Firesheets (Bonnie); and her grandchildren, Kaitlin Kirk, Taylor Brown Waybright, Evan Brown, and Hailey Drinkwater. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Alexis Ancarrow and Axton Waybright.
Fran dedicated much of her career to Safeway Corporation, American Tobacco, and later retired from Phillip Morris. Beyond her professional life, she was a faithful and active member of Ironbridge Church, where her love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She loved to travel, embrace new adventures, and share those experiences with friends and family.
Known affectionately as “Nannie” to many, Fran’s kindness extended well beyond her family. She embraced the Be Kind movement in Richmond, spreading love, encouragement, and joy wherever she went. Never one to blend into the crowd, Fran adored bright colors, glitzy clothing, and her well-earned nickname “Miss Hollywood.” She cherished time spent with “The Girls,” her beloved circle of friends, and found happiness in her North Myrtle Beach community. Fran especially loved the ocean and treasured her constant companion, her four-year-old Yorkie, Kash. Her legacy is one of vibrant spirit, faith, and love.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ironbridge Church, 10900 Ironbridge Road, Chester, VA 23831. Although Fran loved flowers, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ironbridge Church Youth Ministry at the address above or through www.ironbridge.church
