Edward Peter Kavanaugh

Ed was born on April 9, 1952, on the north end of Boston in Somerville, Massachusetts, in St. Joseph’s parish. He was the second child of Edward and Mary Kavanaugh and is predeceased by his parents and his brother, John Kavanaugh.

Ed was too tall for a Spider convertible, so he used that money to attend and graduate from Salem College in Salem, West Virginia, with a degree in Humanics. He eventually made his way to Richmond, Virginia, and could never believe he lived here longer than he lived in Boston. He loved his work in the recovery community in the 1980s at St. John Vianney; he also worked for Bon Secours and retired from Dominion VA Power. Ed always had a joke for everyone who crossed his path and never met a stranger.

Ed is survived by his wife, Victoria Kavanaugh; devoted daughter, Mary Emily Kavanaugh; the mother of his beloved grandchildren, Jackson Cobb and Maggie Cobb. He is further survived by beloved grandchildren, Olivia Delp and Oscar Delp; his other daughter, Erin Delp; as well as his siblings, Mary Ellen (David) Ford, William (Patricia) Kavanaugh, and nieces and nephews: Robert Kavanaugh, Kathleen Kavanaugh, Ryan Ford, and John Ford. Brothers-in-law, Duane (Robin) Marcus and Richard Marcus.

Ed will be buried in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in his name to the Richmond Education Fund at RPS.fund.

The family is eternally grateful to Ascend Hospice, Tamara, and Nyla for their devoted and loving care of Ed.
