

Charles Wilson “Chuck” States, II, 74, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wilson States and Beatrice Lambing States of Indiana, Pennsylvania. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Susan Mistretta States, whom he met during high school. Chuck is also survived by three sisters: Mary Speicher (Jim) of Crystal Lake, Illinois; Tris Nelson (Greg) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and Kate Drost (Al) of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Grace Mistretta Siple. Chuck will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
After high school in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army in 1970. Qualifying for advanced electronics training, Chuck soon became an instructor at Fort Bliss, Texas. His military training and experience launched a successful civilian career with NCR, Boeing, and other computer companies around Richmond, Virginia, where Chuck and Susan relocated after the Army. He retired from the computer industry almost ten years ago.
Chuck had a lifetime love of sports. He had a passion for coaching area youth sports, and teaching good sportsmanship was as important as developing talent. Chuck was also a skilled marksman, avid sportsman, and golfer. Retirement left more time for another favorite hobby, traveling and cruising with Susan.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Amelia, Virginia. At the request of the Veterans Cemetery, guests need to arrive by 12:30.
