She was a bright, inventive, and loving mother who focused much of her energy on creating warm, beautiful spaces, both inside her home and outside in her gardens. A graduate of Petersburg High School and Mary Baldwin College, she was an herb enthusiast and certified Master Gardener. Over the years she sang in several choral groups, including CAFUR, Friendship Force in Italy, and Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale. She is survived by her daughters Amy Reid Dassler (Chris) of Williamsburg, and Susan Goodman Reid (Noel Rowe) of Marietta, GA; her three grandchildren, Ellie, Reid, and Phoebe; and her sister, Yvonne P. Avery of Flagler Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph O. and Susie Goodman Patram and her sister, Patricia Patram Ferguson. A memorial service will be held on August 27 at 2pm, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond. A private interment will be held at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg.
