Stephen Wayne Morris Sr.

Stephen "Steve" Wayne Morris Sr. of Clarksville, Virginia, gained his wings on August 8th, 2026, in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the age of 71. His death follows a courageous 3-year battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare form of skin cancer.

Born on July 2nd, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Alice & Raymond Morris Sr., Steve was raised with a deep love of family, faith, and the value of hard work. An outdoorsman at heart, he found much joy in hunting, fishing, and before his retirement, playing softball. His passion for sports was undeniable, especially when it came to his limitless support for his beloved Maryland teams. You can bet that if he wasn't casting a fishing line out on the lake, he was sitting in front of a nightly football game, rooting for the Ravens or Terps!

Also, known for his friendly nature, Steve had truly never known a stranger, often engaging everyone he encountered in lively conversations that could go on for hours. His knowledge, passion, and infectious sense of humor seemed to be a magnet for those around him. He was a true people person.

Steve was welcomed into heaven by his loving parents, as well as two angel grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Perhaps one of his first heavenly reunions was with his beloved dog, Tyler, who was patiently waiting just on the other side of the rainbow bridge for his daddy. We take comfort in knowing that they are all in each other's loving embrace now and that he and his mother can talk each other's ear off about the Orioles once again!

He is remembered by his devoted wife of 49 years, Susan Canipe Morris, along with his 5 boisterous children: Alicia Morris, Tess Morris (Mike), Stephen "Buck" Morris Jr. (Sara), Samantha Morris (Matt), and Lauren Richardson (Dillon). He was a goofy and doting grandfather to 13 grandchildren that spanned over 3 decades: Ty, Alexis, Harley, Kristian, Gemma, Damion, Kaila, Stephen, J.T., Andrew, Stephen III, Susie, and Clark.

He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: Joyce Plumb, Dianna Crawford, Dale Morris, Raymond Morris Jr. (Kim), Duane "Peanut" Morris Sr. (Donna), Sue Canipe (Darryl), Tracey Singleton (Jason), and Michelle Collier, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and two honorary brothers, Tom Plumb and Wendell Barker, all of whom will miss his presence dearly.

A funeral and celebration of Steve's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of Steve's memory and his fight against cancer.
