

Mamie Elizabeth Banks was born and raised in Nellysford, Virginia and later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, who worked in healthcare and hospitality service until her retirement. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, compassion, community spirit and unwavering generosity. She was a fashionista who enjoyed shopping, cooking, traveling to New York City, and caring for her family, friends and plants. She had a remarkable ability to brighten the lives of those around her with her infectious smile and warm personality which will forever live in our hearts.
She was gifted to the late Felix and Lovely “Louise” Simpson Banks on December 5th 1948. Gained her heavenly wings on October 4th 2023 joining, her parents and siblings Paul Felix Banks, Virginia Harris, Teresa Banks and the Rev. William Henry Banks who passed before her. Leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her precious memories three daughters Valerie, Shelley and Takiesha Stewart, eight feathery babies, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three granddogs, two brothers, Robert Banks and wife, Oradee of Providence, Rhode Island and Guy Banks and wife, Debra of Waynesboro, Virginia, sister-in-law, Melinda Curry Banks also in Waynesboro, Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Our Ladybug will forever live in our hearts and her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she touched. In honor of Mamie’s memory, her family are planning a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Mamie’s honor to Susan G. Komen or The Autism Society Of America as she was a fervent advocate for their mission.
