

Sarah Henry Danforth, 81, slipped away peacefully on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Her family was at Sarah’s side when she departed, and as she passed, a gentle snow began at the hospital.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Alexander Henry and Margaret Henry, and by her brothers Alexander Henry Jr. and Bill Henry.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence (Larry) Danforth of Herndon, VA; her nephew Alexander Paul Henry (Gina) of Pass Christian, MS; her great niece Meaghan Denson (Wesley); her great nephew Alexander Thomas Henry (Mary Ann); and great-great nieces and nephews. Sarah also is survived by her brother-in-law Bill Danforth (Laura) of Shenandoah, IA, and her sister-in-law Janet E. Danforth-Bacon (Joe) of Tulsa, OK.
Sarah will be remembered through her many interests and circles of friends. She was passionate about antiques, socializing, and University of Alabama football. In recent years, she became known as a “phoenix” due to her strength in conquering several critical health challenges, including a fractured spine, a subdural hematoma, and several major surgeries. She was especially proud to be a 20-year survivor of pancreatic cancer.
Sarah’s many, many friends will observe a celebration of her life at a future date.
