

After a valiant battle, James Edward Masterson II, aged 78, passed away on January 10th, 2024, in Falls Church, VA.
Jim, a prosperous businessman, and entrepreneur, began his career at IBM, working on NASA's Apollo program, progressing through the company to the position of Director of Marketing/Telecommunications for America/Far East Asia before striking out on his own to establish, develop, and lead successful companies for 43 years. He enjoyed an active social life, especially being a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and member of The Country Club of Fairfax, Virginia. Jim balanced his professional achievements with a love for family, travel, golf, and entertaining a diverse circle of friends.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1945, Jim relocated to Northern Virginia in 1949. He graduated from St. John's College High School (Washington, D.C.) and Wheeling Jesuit University (Wheeling, WV), earning a B.S. in Economics, History, and Philosophy. His college years included a passion for competitive golf, culminating in his role as Captain of the college golf team.
Jim is survived by his dedicated wife of 53 years, Linda Ahnert Masterson of Fairfax, VA; his cherished children, Mark H. Masterson (Amy) of Boise, Idaho, Katherine "Kelly" Masterson Lucero (Joseph) of Fairfax, VA, and Paul D. Masterson (Nathalie) of Los Angeles, CA. He leaves behind five adored granddaughters: Tierney Grace Masterson,Tatum Rose Masterson, Cecilia Jane Lucero, Virginia Josephine Lucero, and Marian James Lucero. His surviving siblings include Nola, Joseph, Stephen, and Terri Masterson. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James H. Masterson and Phyllis Dillman, his stepmother, Virginia McDaniel Masterson, and his sister, Dr. Lynn A. Masterson, along with her son, Bryan James Masterson.
A mass honoring Jim's life will occur on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Following the service, a St. Patrick's Day celebration will unfold in alignment with the departed's wishes.
