David Gregory Lewis

David G. Lewis passed away March 26, 2025 with the love of his life, his wife Jackie Dagley Lewis, at his bedside. He lost his heroic battle to cancer some three years after diagnosis.

In addition to Jackie, his loving wife of 27 years, the following members of his dear family are: his brothers, Homer, Jr. Lewis (deceased), John Edward Lewis, and Hal Stanton Lewis (deceased); son, Matthew David Lewis, and daughter Kimberly (Michael) Lewis Cottrell; grandsons, Luke and Dillon Cottrell; granddaughters, Rose and Violet Lewis; and his his favorite cousin, Nancy Goodhue and her daughter Little Kathryn; along with numerous nephews and nieces

Born in Jacksonville, FL to Homer Lewis, Sr. and Ella Clark Lewis, David was the youngest of four brothers. He graduated from Berry Academy and Berry College in Rome Georgia.

He began his career in finance as a Bank Examiner for the State of Georgia in Dalton, GA. He later shifted to the life insurance business affiliating with The Equitable. He transferred with the Equitable to Falls Church VA in 1991. He later became a financial representative for Andrews FCU, prior to joining Turner Leins Gold, CPA in Vienna, VA.

Being a warm and welcoming person, it was said by many that David never met a stranger and enjoyed his work and his life to the fullest. David was also an active and steadfast member of the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, having recently marked over 44 years of continuous sobriety.

The Celebration of Life shall take place on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at St. David’s Episcopal Church located at 43600 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn, VA. For those that will not be able to attend David's Celebration of Life in person, you are welcome to join remotely by going to David Gregory Lewis Facebook page.
